The Poggio Al Casone estate in Tuscany produces Casone Toscana, an Italian red wine our customers have really been enjoying—so much so that webrought in another wonderful wine from this esteemed estate, Terre del Casone Toscana Rosso Governo All’Uso Toscano.  This wine is a blend of Sangiovese (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Ciliegiolo (10%).  Of particular interest here is the fact that this wine is made via the Governo All’Uso method, which requires the winemaker to save some grapes from the original batch, partially dry them (think: raisins), then add them back into the fermented wine to spark a second fermentation. The finished ruby-red, medium-bodied wine presents notes of cherry and raspberry, with concentrated flavors of dried cherries and intense red fruits on the palate. It’s robust and rich, yet eminently approachable on account of its soft, silky tannins—a direct result of the second fermentation. Pick up a bottle to share with your beloved over a steak dinner... or pick up two bottles to share with friends, alongside heaping helpings of Spaghetti Triangolett tossed in spicy red sauce... or pick up three bottles, because at this price, why not?
